Frequently asked questions:

Our thermostats ensure renters can't set the temperature too high or too low. By allowing you to set maximum heat and minimum cool temperature set points, renters can adjust the thermostat within these limits but cannot exceed the maximum heat or go below the minimum cool set point.

The CT3000 Wi-Fi Thermostat requires a 4-digit lock code to access to installer menu for adjusting the set points.

The CT400 Advanced Thermostat requires a 2-digit pass code to access the installer menu for adjusting the set points.

The CT2001 Deluxe Thermostat has a set of non-intuitive keystrokes that allow the owner to access a numerically coded installer menu. It is necessary know what code modifies which feature. This information is available exclusively in the Owner's Manual provided with the thermostat. This information is deleted in the  online version of the manual for security reasons.

For our Basic Line of Thermost (CT72, CT74, CT76, CT766), and our CT100 Standard Thermostat, the set points are hard-coded in the thermostat and cannot be altered. Tenants cannot adjust the thermostat beyond the predetermined set points.

There is no reset button on the back of any of our thermostats. Pass codes or lock codes cannot be reset if forgotten or lost.

No, the CT3000 lock code cannot be overridden or reset. This sets it apart from most commercial thermostats, which often have codes that can easily be reset with just a button push or a quick online search.

Yes, the CT3000 works with or without Wi-Fi.  Wi-Fi is required to access some additional advanced features such as changing the schedule.

We offer a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase on all our products. In the unlikely event that you encounter problems with your thermostat, we will repair or replace it free of charge

For the CT3000, a "C" wire or common wire is required.  You can purchase a 3rd party C wire converter or one of our other thermostats which do not require a "C" wire.

Our thermostats support hot water baseboard heat systems that are low voltage.  Our units do not support 120/240V electric baseboard systems.

Installation Guide:

You, your handyman, or your property management service department can install it according to the instructions provided with the product. We have designed this product for easy installation. Our thermostats install just like a regular thermostat, requiring only the connection of 4-5 wires.

Our products are easy to install and maintain. They can be installed by a DIY enthusiast, any licensed HVAC contractor in your area, or the service department at your property management company.

We can ship directly to your property manager or HVAC contractor. Our Owner's Manual, which accompanies your unit, includes complete details on how to install and program your thermostat. Additionally, we will customize your CT2001 Deluxe Thermostat for free prior to shipping.

  • Ensure that you turn off the power to the HVAC unit before you begin.
  • When disconnecting the old thermostat, be sure to take note of how the old unit was wired - which color wires go to which terminals.
  • Ensure that you program your new ControlTemp Thermostat to the correct equipment setting before connecting the wiring.
  • Connect your new ControlTemp Thermostat to the wires from your HVAC unit. Be sure to match the wires to the appropriate terminals. NOTE: The color of the wires does not indicate their true function; therefore, it is important to tag each wire when you disconnect the original unit.
  • If you have a heat pump, it may take up to 5 minutes before the HVAC unit turns on. This is due to the heat pump compressor delay ensuring sufficient time to decompress.

We strive to get your orders processed and shipped as quickly as possible. Here's what you need to know:

Processing Time - Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days (Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm EST). Orders placed before 2 PM EST are usually processed the same day. Please allow additional processing time during holidays and peak seasons.

Shipping Carriers and Methods - We offer shipping through USPS and UPS. 

Important: UPS does not deliver to PO Boxes. Customers with PO Boxes must select USPS as their shipping carrier.

Shipping Rates - Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight of your order, the destination, and the shipping method you choose. You'll be able to review shipping costs before completing your purchase.

Order Tracking - Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with a tracking number. You can use this number to track your package on the USPS or UPS website.

Delivery Times - Estimated delivery times are provided by the carriers and are not guaranteed. Unexpected delays may occur due to weather, holidays, or other circumstances beyond our control.

Address Accuracy - Please double-check your shipping address to ensure it is accurate and complete. We are not responsible for delays or non-delivery due to incorrect address information. Additional costs may be incurred for returned and reshipped packages due to non-deliverable addresses.

Lost or Damaged Packages - If your package is lost or damaged in transit, please contact us immediately. We will work with the carrier to resolve the issue and ensure you receive your order.

Return Policy:

We accept returns up to 30 days from the date of purchase. The units must be returned, unopened and uninstalled, in working order with the original manual, materials and packaging.

How to Return a Unit:

Email returns@controltempthermostats.com to request a refund. Be sure to include your name, mailing address and invoice number. We will assign you a RMA number, send you a Return Packing Slip with an address to ship your return to.

Mail the unit, using USPS, UPS or FedEx, back to us. You are responsible for all return shipping charges.

Include in your package the Return Packing Slip with the reason for your return indicated along with the RMA number that was assigned to you.

Please allow 48 hours once the return is received for testing and processing of a check refund if applicable.

Shipping Fees:

You are responsible for all shipping fees and insurance on returns.

Refund Processing:

Refunds will be processed within 48 hours of receiving the return.

1 Year Limited Warranty:

We offer a 1 Year limited warranty. If your unit stops working within 1 year of purchase, we will replace it free of charge. Warranty is void if the unit has been installed incorrectly or has been abused or broken outside of normal wear and tear. Please email returns@controltempthermostats.com for warranty claims.
