How do I install your product?

You or your handyman or property management service department can install it according to the instructions that come with the product. We’ve designed this product to be easily installed. Our thermostat install just like a normal thermostat. It is a matter of connecting 4-5 wires.

Installation Tips

  • Ensure that you turn the power off to the HVAC Unit before you begin.
  • When disconnecting the old unit, be sure to take note of how the old unit was wired – “What color wires go to what terminals”.
  • Ensure that you program your new ControlTemp Thermostat to the correct equipment setting before connecting it to your unit.
  • Connect your new ControlTemp Thermostat to the wires from your HVAC unit. Be sure to match the wire to the appropriate terminals. NOTE: The color of the wires does not indicate its true function; thus it is important to tag each wire when you disconnect the original unit.
  • If you have a heat pump, it may take up to 5 minutes before the HVAC unit turns on. This is the heat pump compressor delay ensuring sufficient time to decompress.

About ControlTemp Thermostats

What makes your ControlTemp Thermostats different from everything else?

Our thermostats prevent renters from setting the temperature too high or too low. It does this by allowing you to set a maximum heat and minimum cool temperature set point. The tenants can then adjust the thermostat but can not set it higher than the maximum heat or lower then the minimum cool set point.

For example, most owners will set the maximum heat temperature to 72°. With this setting a tenant will only be able to raise the heat to 72°. If they try to raise it higher, the thermostat will not respond.

We also provide a unique “Tamper Warning” Labels, that let the tenant know what the maximum/minimum allowable temperatures are and warns them of forfeiting their security deposit if they tamper with the unit.

Does your product come with a warranty?

Yes, your ControlTemp Thermostat(s) comes with a 1-year warranty. If for some strange reason it were to have problems, we will repair or replace it altogether for you, free of charge.

What kind of energy savings can I expect?
